What is Cardiovascular Disease? Since more than one out of every three people will die from heart attack, stroke, diabetes or other circulatory diseases, it only makes sense that we all need to pay attention to this problem. In fact every 33 seconds someone dies of heart disease.
I’ll admit it, during the early part of my life, the only attention I paid to my health was going to the doctor if I got sick enough to not function properly. Unfortunately, millions of Americans practice no, or few preventive measures to safeguard their health.
Cardiovascular Disease is when the heart or blood vessels are abnormal or functioning abnormally. Cardiovascular Disease is not a single disease, but is a broad term that covers a multitude of diseases. Usually this is a circulatory disease such as high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, diabetes, peripheral artery disease, heart failure, stroke and more.

For those of us in the Baby Boomer generation, this means our body is stopping us from doing the things we want to do.

Many Americans tend to deny that their symptoms are a real problem. Others are afraid that they may have a real problem. They put off going to a doctor for years. Popular among men and some women, is the Superman complex, where they are under the illusion that nothing can slow them down. This illusion persists is right up until, their possibly fatal heart attack or stroke.

In the past the only solution given most of us, by doctors was either medication that did not cure the problem, or surgery to patch the problems up.
